Matthew 7:7 – Ask and It Will Be Given

Listen to an audio version of this

Context

In this part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches about the importance of prayer and trusting in God’s provision.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
 ––Matthew 7:7 KJV

How to read it

Jesus is saying that if you really want something, you should just ask for it. It’s like having a cheat code in a video game, but for life—just reach out and God’s got your back. He wants you to be active, to reach out, and He promises that you’ll get a response.

Let’s pray

Heavenly Father,
thank You for encouraging me to seek, ask, and knock. Help me to have the faith and courage to reach out to You with my needs and desires. Guide me to understand what truly matters and align my heart with Your will. Let me not be hesitant or doubting, but eager and trusting in Your perfect timing and provision.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
