Context
In Philippians chapter 4, Paul is encouraging the believers in Philippi to rejoice in the Lord and to be united in purpose, despite the challenges they face. He advises them to replace anxiety with prayer, assuring them that God listens and responds.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
––Philippians 4:6 KJV
How to read it
When you’re feeling all stressed out or worried about something, the Bible is saying not to freak out. Instead, you’re supposed to tell God what’s going on through prayer, and do it with a thankful heart. It’s like having a chat with your best friend who’s got everything under control, and knowing that once you share your worries with Him, you can chill because He’s got your back.
Let’s pray
Heavenly Father,
thank you for being there for me when I feel overwhelmed by the worries of life. Help me to remember to turn to you first and express my needs through prayer. Grant me the peace that comes from trusting in your timing and purpose. May I always approach you with a heart full of gratitude, aware of your love and goodness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
