Listen to an audio version of this

Context

Psalm 85 is a prayer for restoration and revival, asking for God’s mercy and salvation while recognizing past forgiveness and seeking future peace.

I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
 ––Psalm 85:8 KJV

How to read it

God promises to speak peace to His people, which means He’s got this calming vibe that He wants us to feel in our lives. It’s like when you’re stressed about a big exam, and someone says, ‘Relax, I’ve got your back,’ that’s what God is saying. It’s all about chilling out and knowing God’s peace, while also staying on track and avoiding any unnecessary drama.

Let’s pray

Heavenly Father,
thank You for Your promise of peace in our lives. Help us to listen closely to Your voice and feel Your calming presence every day. Guide us to make wise choices and stay away from anything that would lead us back to the chaos of folly. Fill our hearts with Your tranquility and teach us to share it with those around us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
