Context

Isaiah 66 discusses God’s judgment on the wicked and His blessings upon those who remain faithful and humble before Him.

For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
––Isaiah 66:2 KJV

How to read it

God is saying that He made everything and everyone. But He’s gonna focus on those who are humble and respect what He says. It’s like having a VIP pass to God’s attention when you’re the kind of person who respects God’s teachings and acknowledges when you’re wrong. It’s not about how awesome you can look on the outside. It’s about having a good heart and being real with God.

Let’s pray

Heavenly Father,
I come to You with a humble heart, acknowledging that You have created everything and that everything exists by Your hand. Thank You for promising to look to those who have a humble and repentant spirit. Help me to stay humble and have a heart that is truly contrite, delighting in Your words. Let Your presence be known in my life as I strive to honor You and follow Your ways.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
