Exodus 33:14 – Promise of Nearness

Listen to an audio version of this

Context

In Exodus 33, God speaks to Moses after the Israelites sinned by worshipping a golden calf. Moses seeks assurance of God’s presence as they continue their journey.

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
––Exodus 33:14 KJV

How to read it

God is like, ‘Hey Moses, don’t worry. I’ll be there with you, and I’m going to give you some chill time—real peace and rest.’ It’s kind of like when you’ve had a super tiring day, and your best friend comes over just to hang out and relax. No matter how hectic or stressful things get, God is with you, and He’ll help you catch your breath and find peace.

Let’s pray

Heavenly Father,
thank You for always being present with us. We ask for Your rest and peace in our hearts as we navigate our busy days according to your will. Help us to remember that You are with us, guiding us and giving us strength. Thank You for the assurance that we can find true rest in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
