Context
Matthew 5 contains the Beatitudes, where Jesus is teaching his disciples about the values and attitudes that are blessed by God.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
––Matthew 5:3 KJV
How to read it
Jesus says if you’re ‘poor in spirit,’ you’re set to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s like recognizing that on your own, you’re spiritually broke and in total need of God. When you vibe with humility and acknowledge God’s awesomeness, you’re actually getting the ultimate reward – understanding that God’s got your back no matter what.
Let’s pray
Heavenly Father,
thank You for the promise of the Kingdom of Heaven for those who are humble and recognize their need for You. Help me to live with a spirit of humility, always looking to You for guidance. Help me seeking Your presence daily and trusting in Your divine plan for my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
